The Inkwell is a historic beach located in Oak Bluffs on Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts. Beginning in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, it became a gathering place for African American families seeking respite, recreation, and community during a period when segregation and discrimination limited access to many public spaces.
